I have a BA Hons degree in Fine Art from the University of Bath, where I specialised in Fine Art, drawing and painting. After graduation, I moved to Glasgow and embarked on my PGDE. I've now been teaching Art and Textiles in Secondary Schools for almost 30 years and I'm still standing!
I'm currently based in the beautiful Kingdom of Fife, Scotland and share my home with ( personal servant to) my two very pampered Cockapoos, Betsy and Bear.
Animals and Art have always been the biggest loves in my life and its a joy to be able to combine the two.
As an artist my aim is to create detailed, realistic portraits of your cherished pets that will take pride of place in your home for years to come.
All portraits are hand drawn using only the highest quality, archival materials. That way you can guarantee that your precious artwork will last the test of time.
For my pastel drawings I use Clairefontaine Pastelmat Paper , Unision Soft Pastels, Caran D'ache and Faber Castell Pastel Pencils.
For my smaller pencil portraits, I use Faber Castell Polychromos and Caran D'ache Luminance pencils on Grafix Drafting Film, Clairefontaine Pastelmat Paper and Fabriano Hot Press Watercolour Paper.
I aim to create the best likeness of your pet that I can, regardless of how long it might take and each commission can take up to between 20 to 30 hours to create.
Once booked, your artwork will usually take around 7 weeks to complete but may take longer depending on my workload and during busier times of the year e.g. Christmas. Please let me know if you have a specific date in mind or deadline for a special occasion.
If you are happy with the timescale for your portrait I would first require a 30% deposit to secure your booking. This can be paid via bank transfer or PayPal.
Delivery within the UK is included in the price of your commission. Delivery to other countries may incur an additional cost. This can be discussed when you are deciding upon the size of your commission.
When the final balance has been received your artwork will be sent securely packaged via Royal Mail Special Delivery. This way your precious portrait will be insured and trackable.
If you live locally and it is convenient for you, I am more than happy for you to collect your artwork in person. Just be aware that a warm welcome from two Cockapoos is very much included with this option!
